Dear CAFAM members,
Laurie Hyndman is admissions director at North Yarmouth Academy. She sent out the following request. If you can help, please contact her directly at lhyndman@nya.org.
As we approach the first day of school, we are in need of three additional homes for three students from China.
I am sending out an appeal to everyone I know to see if you would be willing to open your home to a student this year or for 1/2 of the year. These students are serious about their studies, eager to live with an American family and committed to completing their studies and graduating from NYA. Their goal is to attend an American college or university.
Gu Shansan is coming to NYA after a year attending a school in western Canada. Her English is impeccable, she is a classical pianist and is eager to meet her new family.
Zou Zhiming is coming as a junior. He is interested in sports and in his studies. His English name is Oscar!
Cathy Li is returning for her senior year. She had a great year at NYA last year. She is very studious, tried volleyball and tennis last year!
If you cannot open your home, do you know someone who would? Each student’s family pays a monthly stipend to the host family.
Thanks so much for considering this. If you’d like to learn more about our program, please contact me at lhyndman@nya.org
