A Sneak Peek at CNY 2012: Part 1 of 3

CAFAM is revving up for an exciting Chinese New Year Festival next year, February 4th  2012, to ring in the year of the dragon!  And what a better way to celebrate this zodiac animal’s ambition and good fortune than by moving to a beautiful new location! With the lunch lines wrapping around ourselves and dance performances of the past packed to standing room only crowds, we transition from dear Catherine McAuley High School to our new venue, Westbrook Middle School and Performing Arts Center, which promises beautiful, open spaces for CAFAM to hold its biggest and largest CNY Festival to date.  We’ll be debuting photos of our fantastic setting over the course of 3 months, so come back to our website for new updates.

Finally, the Chinese School’s children and our guest performers will have the honor of performing on an incredible, state-of-the-art auditorium at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center.  With 1,000 seats and high-tech gadgets (can you say fancy lighting system and a 48-channel digital soundboard?), the new stage will be a thrill for our eager, young performers!

And after the performance is over, it’s just a 30-second stroll through the halls for a delectable lunch of dumplings or authentic specialties from our chosen lunch vendor this year, Bubble Maineia Tea Shop & Café.  New, exciting things are happening this year thanks to our new location!  We’re excited to have you join us on February 4, 2012 at Westbrook Middle School and Performing Arts Center (click the link for directions).  The parking is abundant with spaces in the front *AND* the back of the school.  Are you excited for CNY? Tell us what you think in the comments section below!

Stay tuned for more updates and sneak peeks!
