New Year crafts prep volunteers needed

Dear CAFAM members,

If you’d like to lend a hand with preparations for our new year celebration (Feb 4), here’s a delightful way to do it. Here’s the word from Kelli Pryor.

Nimen hao!

Time to grab your scissors and run (okay, don’t run with the scissors, but get thyself…) to the Ah Kau and Sally NG HOME, 72 Bowdoin Street, in Portland. We’ll all be crafting like mad (and chatting and laughing and eating) from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Children with their own scissors are also very welcome and will be rewarded with dumplings.

Other things to bring besides the all-important SCISSORS:

hole punches
cutting mats
exactos
rulers
tabletop paper cutters
pencils
tape
paper bags/boxes for projects and scraps

Please label your belongings for ease-of-return at the end of the day.

Jen DeCristoforo is leading the craft effort this year and needs VOLUNTEERS to guide little hands at a dozen tables on the day of the fair. She needs real calligraphers and folders of origami in addition to attentive souls who just like to help kids have fun. Please let her know if you’ll be able to help out at the fair anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Jen can be reached at jdecristoforo@maine.rr.com.

Craft-prep day is all about getting it done, and yet every year it turns into a celebration of what makes our community great. And I’m not just talking about Sally’s dumplings, although those are wonderful. I’m talking about the can-do spirit of this bunch. Thank you for helping when and where you can! See you Saturday!

Xiexie!

Kelli
