Dear CAFAM members,
This coming Monday (October 15) will feature two interesting and timely lectures, one in Bangor and one in Orono, by Professor Don J. Wyatt of Middlebury College.
His first talk is “A Quest for Security or Invincibility?: The Question of Motive in China’s Military Expansionism.” It addresses the question of why China is seeking to rapidly increase its military. This talk is for early risers, as it takes place at 7:30 AM in the Bangor Public Library.
His second lecture is “China’s Other Demographic Challenge.” He will discuss demographic questions surrounding the 55 ethnic “nationalities” and how population policies have applied to them. It’s at 4:00 PM at DP Corbett at the University of Maine.
The lectures are free and open to the public. For more information about Professor Wyatt and his topics call 581-1835 or visit www.bangorforum.us.
Best regards,
Craig Dietrich
