Documentary about Chinese adoptees

Dear CAFAM members,

An outstanding documentary film called “Somewhere Between” will be screened at the Portland Museum of Art on the following schedule:

Friday, November 16, 6:30 pm

Saturday, November 17, 2:00 pm

Sunday, November 18, 2:00 pm

Here is a brief description of the film: In profiling Chinese adoptees in contemporary America, director Linda Goldstein Knowlton has created a deeply moving documentary. The film follows four of the roughly 80,000 girls who have been adopted from China since 1989. These four, wise-beyond-their-years yet typical American teens, attempt to answer the question, “Who am I?” They bond with other adoptees. Some journey back to China to reconnect with the culture, and some reach out to the orphaned girls left behind. All attempt, each in her own way, to make sense of their complex identities with honesty and open hearts.

Tickets are $7 at the desk.
