Mandarin teaching and learning opportunities

Dear CAFAM members,

Here are two items relating to Mandarin learning/instruction.

Chinese instructors

A Bangor area high school seeks a sub for its Chinese Program for the remainder of the school year. The person would teach four classes (levels 1 and 2).

Also the Bangor Chinese School is seeking a Chinese teacher for its summer camp, from June 17 to July 13.

For either of these opportunities, please contact Jing Zhang by email: jingzhang@bangorchinese.com.

Learning Chinese in Taiwan

The Ministry of Education in Taiwan is accepting applications for the “Huayu Enrichment Scholarship.” This scholarship provides nine high school graduates from New England with the opportunity to study Mandarin in Taiwan for a summer or an academic year.

There are scholarships and stipends. But as usual by the time I get this information the deadline is imminent: March 31.

Applications for Huayu scholarships are available at http://www.moebos.org/scholar_en.htm. For more information, contact Ms. Levina Weiting Huang at wthuang@mail.moe.gov.tw.

Best regards,

Craig
