Dear CAFAM members,
CAFAM is proud to join Longfellow Books in presenting an evening with Rob Schmitz, acclaimed China reporter with NPR’s Marketplace.
Where: Longfellow Books, One Monument Way, Portland
When: Wednesday, July 20th, 7-8 pm
Free admission
Schmitz will talk about modern China as described in his new book, Street of Eternal Happiness: Big City Dreams Along a Shanghai Road. It’s an “unforgettable portrait of individuals who hope, struggle, and grow along a single street cutting through the heart of China’s most exhilarating metropolis, from one of the most acclaimed broadcast journalists reporting on China today.”
We are hoping for a good turnout of CAFAM members at the talk. We are planning a CAFAM lecture series in the near future, so this is a good start!
*Also: Tune in to Maine Public Radio’s call-in show “Maine Calling” on the same day to hear Rob Schmitz discuss his book. Joining him on the panel will be CAFAM newsletter co-editor Connie Zhu and Bowdoin professor Christopher Heurlin.
