Local Connections, National Reflections

Featuring Dr. Henry A. Kissinger
Former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor speaking in a live national webcast

Talbot Lecture Hall in Luther Bonney Hall
USM, Portland Campus

Please park in the USM parking garage and cross the sky-walk. Luther Bonney Hall will be on your left and Talbot is on the first floor.

China’s rapid development and Sino-American relations have a direct impact on the lives of just about everyone in the United States. CHINA Town Hall: Local Connections, National Reflections, is a national day of programming designed to provide Americans across the United States and beyond the opportunity to discuss issues in the relationship with leading experts.

During the webcast, Dr. Kissinger will take questions submitted via email and Twitter from members of the audiences around the country.

About Henry Kissinger
In addition to his years as national security advisor (1969-1975) and secretary of state (1973-1977), Dr. Kissinger has also taught at Harvard University and is currently chairman of Kissinger Associates, Inc., an international consulting firm. While national security advisor, Dr. Kissinger played a crucial role in arranging President Nixon’s 1972 visit to China, which opened the door to the re-establishment of U.S.-China relations.

About Min Ye
Dr. Min Ye is Associate Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. Her research focuses on foreign investment in and from China and India. Her publications include Diasporas and Foreign Direct Investment in China and India (Cambridge University Press, 2014) and The Making of Northeast Asia (coau. Kent Calder, Stanford University Press, 2010). Dr. Ye was a Post-doctoral fellow at Harvard’s Fairbank Center in 2009-2010, the Director of East Asian Studies Program at BU in 2010-2014, and a Public Intellectual Program fellow at the National Committee on U.S-China Relations, 2014-2016.
