Film Screenings At Bowdoin

Dear CAFAM members,

Bowdoin College has invited CAFAM members to attend an upcoming film screening:

What: Award-winning feature film Dog Days, and documentary film The Silk and the Flame
When: October 29 & 30, 2017; films start at 7 pm
Where: Visual Arts Center, Bowdoin College
Cost: The screenings are free

Jordan Schiele, a filmmaker based in Beijing, will visit the Bowdoin campus on October 29 & 30. Jordan graduated from Bowdoin (Class of 2007) with a double major in Government and Asian Studies, and went on to graduate school from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA in film directing and cinematography. His features and shorts have been nominated for, or granted, several awards from the Berlin International Film Festival, Louis Vuitton at Cannes Film Festival, and the New York Film Festival.

Jordan will be on campus to screen his feature film, Dog Days (Oct 29); a documentary, The Silk and the Flame; and a short, Turtle (both Oct 30). Dog Days, Jordan’s debut film, looks at the sensitive subject of child trafficking and the struggles of the underclass in China. The Silk and the Flame reveals how cultural and familial pressure to engage in a heterosexual marriage forces a gay son to conceal his gender identity.

A Brooklyn-born New Yorker, Jordan has become a successful film director and world citizen living in China.
