Chinese New Year Celebration Saturday

Dear CAFAM members,

It is almost upon us, the New Year Celebration, Year of the Dragon. Saturday, February 4, 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

Under Generalissimo Patti Oldmixon an enormous amount of work has gone into presenting a bang-up program at our new Location.

Watch the dance and song by 85 children from the Chinese School.

Win a great door prize.

Take the little ones to the Dragon craft tables.

Hear talks by Eliot Cutler and panel (education/business), or Susan Conley (life in China), or Karen Morency (self-healing), or Merrit Bainbridge (acupuncture).

Slurp up some Bubble Maineia noodles or wash down some Chinese School Dads’ dumplings.

Buy a book or two, a diabolo for that overactive ten-year-old, a “fu” cap for good luck, some special tea and other exotica straight from China, etc.

Participate in some mild martial arts, for kids or adults.

Stop by to hear Chinese instruments being played.

Whatever you choose, it will be a blast. The Dragon is definitely going to bring perfect weather.

So betake yourself, if at all possible, to Westbrook Middle School and Performing Arts Center, 471 Stroudwater St. There’s lots of parking.

As we used to say (before we stopped saying it), “Be there or be square!”

Best,

Craig
